To all members of the Richard J. Meadows Memorial Chapter - Command Chapter LX of the Special Forces Association; congratulations.  The fourth annual Memorial Scholarship Banquet was an unqualified success.  Over eighty individuals enjoyed a delightful dinner and music provided by the Par Four Jazz Band, guests included General and Mrs. Schoomaker, Pam Meadows, Mark Meadows, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Rule (daughter of Richard J. Meadows) and  the quest speaker Alan Hoe who spoke of his association and remembrance of Richard J. Meadows.  Pam Meadows also spoke for a few moments of her gratitude to the guest speaker, and the close friends present (Bud Sydnor and others) of her Husband, at which point she donated $500.00 to the Richard J. Meadows Scholarship fund, which was accepted by Chapter Treasurer Earl MacMillan.  Miss. Oakley Rea daughter of Chapter member Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Rea, who will attend the University of South Florida with a goal to become an Army Doctor read her essay on Richard J. Meadows. General Schoomaker, then presented the scholarship awards to Miss. Oakley Rea and Miss. MaeLee Rich daughter of chapter president & Mrs. Wayne Rich.

Certificates of appreciation were given to Abe Tibbens & Jerry Hines families for there help with the D-Day + 55 Tribute, which the chapter sponsored this past June 6th.  The Member of the Year and Associate Member of the Year were handed out by yours truly to Earl MacMillan and Wayne Rich respectively.  General Schoomaker then presented Peter J. Kreuziger honorary membership in the Special Forces Association (national Level) for all the work that he's done in SOF memorial and with his help after MG. Joe Lutz died recently.

All in all a good meal was consumed and fellowship renewed.  For those of you who couldn't attend, you missed a good time.  But, there's next year and the Fifth Annual Richard J. Meadows Memorial Banquet.
