Just stumbled upon this gem looking for information about my father, SGM Arthur R. Simon, who served in the 5th and 1st (Viet Nam) and with the 7th, 3rd
Battlion in Panama, HHD. He has since passed away and I'm trying to gather as much as I can about him. It was a "need to know" with him haha! Give a holler if any of you former SF troops know of him. SF, keep up the outstanding work! Thanks from a grateful American Citizen.

started any training of any sort yet. I am 17 years old, and am very active in
many sports and have no problem maxing out the Physical Fitness Test, but I was
wondering if I could get someone to send me an email about how to mentally train
for Special Op Training, and what little things I can get into the habit of
doing before I get there so I am not totally blown out of the water. Thank you
so much for your help.

Hi Fellow Green Berets, I need your help and support. I was in the 7th
Special Forces group who was given his Green Beret by President Kennedy in 1961.
I have been very active all of my life, then out of nowhere I developed
pulmonary fibrosis in my lungs and have less than a 25% lung capacity left. My
VA here in Dayton, Ohio put me through a year and a half of testing and
concluded that I was a good canidate for a lung transplant. My pulmonary
physician, Dr. Jeffrey Schnader submitted the transplant request to five VA
transplant hospitals and they all turned me down because they think that over
age 60 is too old, even though other non-government hospitals transplant single
lungs over 65 years old. I want every Special Force Veteran to know that the VA
Hospitals in this country are dropping the ball for our medical care for those
of us over 60 years old. The VA Hospital has sent me home to die even though Dr.
Schnader there said that I am a good canidate for a lung transplant and that I
could even go to work again and golf with a tranplant. If I survive this, I want
to work for all the Veterans who are dying needlessly because the VA is
practicing age discrimination. Please go to my website that a friend set up for
me. I would love your comments and letters. Even though I am on oxygen
constantly, I still gasp for air. I am getting weaker but I am trying to hold on
and fight, for me and all of you who have served your country well and may need
a transplant of some kind in the future. Best wishes to all, Jerry Wood

Thanks to those who let me know that a good friend i was trying to locate, Darrell Redman, had recently passed away.
- Darrell Dean Redman, born September 14, 1945, passed away after a brief illness on November 17, 2002, in Bangkok, Thailand. His obituary stated that in 1966 Darrell enlisted in the Armed Forces, becoming a member of the 5th Special Forces Green Berets and ulitmately a member of SOG, intelligence branch of the Green Berets. He served his country from 1966 until 1972, being discharged as a Captain after service in Vietname, Okinawa, and Korea. He received the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster for bravery, the Silver Star for saving 4 of his fellow soldiers while under fire, and 3 purple hearts for wounds received during his tours in Vietnam. -
If anyone knows Darrell and would like to share your memories or know of anything else published about him, please feel free to email me. I know he was in a book or two - i only wish i could track them down. A moment of silence for a great & complicated man that lived life to the fullest! Much love to all those who served. God Bless!!

This is a site worthy of the "best of the best". My father Frank P. Batteford,Jr. served in SF for about 15 years w/ the 1st, 5th, and 10th SFGs. He pulled 3 tours of duty in Vietnam which included being in Project Delta and in Khe Sahn during the siege. My father passed away 3/30/2002. If anyone out there can tell me a few things about him during his years w/ SF I would really appreciate it. A special thank you to Ken Lazalaco who served w/ my Dad in SF in Vietnam who gave a moving speech at my Dad's memorial ceremony. For all of you who have served or are serving now, my deepest respect and thank you goes out to you.

Looking for a Corporal Duperroy, Corporal Jonathon Duperroy a towed jumper with the mind of a cretan but the courage of a drunk, who executed a feet ass head PLF in all our hearts... Hello, I am Sergeant Miller 3rd Brigade, 3rd ANGLICO. We train fairly hard, but I must say we are the dirtiest, stinkiest, bags of Chesty's buttcheese you have ever seen. 3rd Brigade is out in the field so dog-gone long that our gunny has to blast us down with a fire house to get all the fungus off. The grabbastic bags of extrenuous anal leavings over at 1st MLE occasionally refer to us as the freeballin' fairies because the unorthidox manor in which we modify our battle dress uniforms in the summer heat in JRTC Fort, Polk Lousiania. The motto among this derilict motley crew of pungent airborne wretches is "chonies iz for fonies." Nevertheless, I must reinterate that the Marines of 3rd Anglico and especially 3rd Brigade, are a bunch of smelly, stinky freaks that should not be tampered with other than in the time of war. And in such a time, they should be unleashed like wild, rabbid, gibbons upon the world in order to reap communist soles with unrelentingly barbarousness and without the slightest hint of remorse. Until that day, the president will store us behind a glass case marked: break only during a smelly, sweaty, stinky emergency.

I have trained with the ROK-SF teams many times and have even gone to their version of SFAS and graduated. I was told I can wear the ROK-SF (I have the orders) Tab along with my ROK jump wings but anytime I due, people give me a line of s#!t and tell me I can't. Can someone try to help me understand this? I was a Spec4 with CCN, DaNang, RT Coral as both 1-1 and 1-2 during part of my shortened tour in RVN, Sept 68 - Mar 69. My 1-0 was SFC Nelson. I am trying to contact him and any other "snake" teams at DaNang during that time frame. Another guy was Sp/4 Stephenson. Any help you could provide would be helpful. Thanks. VR, Bob

I arrived at Ft Campbell as a DLI-trained so-so Arabic linguist and got put in "Support Company" along with PAC clerks, cooks, riggers and other remf MOS-types. I would really like commo with the following folks whose current rank or status (ETS'd? Retired?)I dont know: SFC Bill Algaier [also known as Gator--he introduced me to Stevie Ray Vaughn music!!!] SFC Mike Cunningham [Papa Doc], Sgt Rick Nickolai (RAT) and of course the non-team guys who were there ready to throw led down range: SSG Michael Stanley, Sgt Brad Tumer.
The list is potentially endless. I am a nurse on a cardiothoracic ward at BAMC. Work # is 210-967-8893
Negative further at this time. EOT EOM
Brad .... out!

White Panther, thank you for the "honest" critique of my fellow Americans. I am absolutely certain the world community will be amazed by the ethnic tolerance and understanding which is now sweeping across the Balkans. Serbia, a nation that is most recently noted for such national heroes (or murderers) as Slobodan Milosevic, Radovan Karadzic, and Mladic Ratko, is hardly a model for the new world order. The Serbian Army demonstrated an uncanny ability for raping women and killing old folks. (Now that is a military organization you can be proud of!) Let us not forget the Serbian view of social engineering--ethnic cleansing. Most Americans will tell you America is not perfect. But, we sure look pretty damn good when compared to most of the nations that inhabit this world.
Peace.
