Another day in remembering the good, bad, happy, sad, afraid, proud and most rewarding time in the military. Being a team mate with the bravest, most professional patriots was indeed a great honor. Wether it was on a training mission in Taiwan; a B team in ICorp; or Drawer 22, MACSOG; I was proud to be associated with my SF comrades. God bless you all and the lord willing, I'll sign back on in about 6 months. Thank for being who you are.. Steven F. Baevich

I never had the honor of serving my country, however I read the stories of those that did so that I may learn about them. It is the best way I can show my respect, and the honor that is so deserving, for what they did do, what they are doing, and for what they will do, so that I can sleep in a safe bed at night. Thank you to each and everyone of you that keep us safe. May God bless you and your families!!

A big "AIRBORNE!" salute to the fine men who had served and to the personnel currently on active duty fighting the "War on Terror". It's volunteers like yourselves who have the courage, talent and indominable spirit that keeps America strong and although we got kicked below the belt almost 6 years ago here and hearing our President echoing the words of FDR, "A day that will live in Infamy," that our enemy will realize the quote of Yamamoto, "I fear we have only awakened a sleeping Giant and his reaction will be terrible." to this they shall realize, that our sworn enemy will know hell on earth and if they should make it to "Paradise" and meet with Allah, their god, may they be bloated from bacon fat! GOOD SITE--SERVED WITH SF FROM 1966-1980: 6TH, 5TH (CCN-67'68), 46TH AND 10TH. My military career started with the 505 Abn Battle Group in Mainz GE 1959-1960. We were selected to aggress the 10 in summer of 60. It did not suprise me to find that most of the old 505ers I remembered ended up in SF. We of the 505 considered ourselves the best and ended up with SF--the BEST of the BEST.

I was briefly a member of the 20th Special Forces Group, 5th Battalion, Maryland Army National Guard from January 1974 to January 1975. I was just wondering if there are any members of that group from 1974 that are listening in. Some names that come to mind are Sgt. Leigh, Sgt.Maj. Thornton, Captain Young, Lt. Reitzler, and Captain Kepler to name a few. I'm aware that Sgt. Bob Savage and Sgt.Maj. Bates have passed away from cancer. It would be great to hear from anyone.

Hi All. I am a drop in just looking around for history of the berets and the unique individuals who serve in special forces. I am a video biographer. I record life stories for service men and women to leave for their families to enjoy while gone away from home. It is called "My Hero At Home Video". I can see the bond that is special to those in service with conrades. My history of service is that I was tested and offered assignment in the SSA when entering the US Army. However, got nervous and specialized in records. I missed out on one of the greatest opportunities of my life but wouldn't trade my three daughters and four grandchildren for a day of it. May God watch over all of you and give you daily acknowledgment of your valuable service.

He was always singing bawdy Irish songs and really was a boost to moral wherever he was and a fine soldier. I will always remember him and mourn his passing, as I know the chapter will.

Regarding my earlier request for people to check out the oil painting of Billye 'A'; it seems the guest book isn't printing out the URL section. So, here it is: http://special-forces-memorial.net/Mrs-A/ Billye's oldest son, Mike, says his mom had the painting before she died but that he doesn't know its provenance. His family and all of us are interested to find out if this is the infamous Bien Hoa Club House portrait and anything else about it. I just got a copy of Billy W's Memorial Day SOG jump - what a bunch of guys..

Would also like for David Kirschbaum and Ringo to take a look and contact me re: their statue idea, which seems the best idea yet to honor her memory. My father was demolitions during the late 60's in Vietnam. During his 2nd tour, he was shot in the head, and a medic helped get him out. The medic's unit was hit by VC a few days later, and my father does not know if the medic made it out. He won't tell me the name, he says if he's dead, he doesn't want to know. I'm trying to find anyone who knew my father. He would have been a difficult person to forget. I don't know much, but I do know that he was stationed at Fort Bragg, that he was a demolitions expert, and that his poodle would come out with him to the field and sleep in his sleeping bag. If you knew my father, please email me at TheMPsWife@yahoo.com. I hope that one day I can go and tell him that I found his medic.

Hello Special Forces community, I was looking through your website about the U.S. Army Special Forces and I was real impressed by your site. The Special Forces are the elite group of people who serve our country with honor and only a few ever make the cut. Sadly these day's there seems to be many people going around and bragging that they were in the special forces, when most of these bar room braggarts never even served. I know of a person who I have suspected as a wannabee for some time now and I wanted to send this information about him. His name is J.R. Rose from Woodhaven, Michigan. For the past few years, this guy has been going on and on about his tour of duty in Viet Nam as a Green Beret. He obviously has mental problems and needs help. I even checked him out in the National Archieves and he never served in the Army Special Forces. This guy is a obviously a fraud and a nutcase. I hope they create some laws and bust these type of phony characters!

Have quickly browsed this site and will now be more thorough as it is far better than even "Special Forces.net". I am civilian re-enactor of 5SFGA and my interest spans from the temporary duty stage to the group officially leaving 'Nam. My regards to all you U/W's out there, none of whom truly pass. I'm awed by the contributions made by you all and consider myself privileged indeed to have this site to view. Knowledge of it was passed onto me by my fellow re-enactor Bob Cairns (1-7 Aircavalry, "Garrowen"). I welcome correspondence from any who wish to know more, perhaps even some can answer my questions. Hi Fellow Green Berets, I need your help and support. I was in the 7th Special Forces group who was given his Green Beret by President Kennedy in 1961. I have been very active all of my life, then out of nowhere I developed pulmonary fibrosis in my lungs and have less than a 25% lung capacity left. My VA here in Dayton, Ohio put me through a year and a half of testing and concluded that I was a good canidate for a lung transplant. My pulmonary physician, Dr. Jeffrey Schnader submitted the transplant request to five VA transplant hospitals and they all turned me down because they think that over age 60 is too old, even though other non-government hospitals transplant single lungs over 65 years old. I want every Special Force Veteran to know that the VA Hospitals in this country are dropping the ball for our medical care for those of us over 60 years old. The VA Hospital has sent me home to die even though Dr. Schnader there said that I am a good canidate for a lung transplant and that I could even go to work again and golf with a tranplant. If I survive this, I want to work for all the Veterans who are dying needlessly because the VA is practicing age discrimination. Please go to my website that a friend set up for me. I would love your comments and letters. Even though I am on oxygen constantly, I still gasp for air. I am getting weaker but I am trying to hold on and fight, for me and all of you who have served your country well and may need a transplant of some kind in the future. Best wishes to all, Jerry Wood RA166-122-62

Thanks to those who let me know that a good friend i was trying to locate, Darrell Redman, had recently passed away. - Darrell Dean Redman, born September 14, 1945, passed away after a brief illness on November 17, 2002, in Bangkok, Thailand. His obituary stated that in 1966 Darrell enlisted in the Armed Forces, becoming a member of the 5th Special Forces Green Berets and ulitmately a member of SOG, intelligence branch of the Green Berets. He served his country from 1966 until 1972, being discharged as a Captain after service in Vietname, Okinawa, and Korea. He received the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster for bravery, the Silver Star for saving 4 of his fellow soldiers while under fire, and 3 purple hearts for wounds received during his tours in Vietnam. - If anyone knows Darrell and would like to share your memories or know of anything else published about him, please feel free to email me. I know he was in a book or two - i only wish i could track them down. A moment of silence for a great & complicated man that lived life to the fullest! Much love to all those who served. God Bless!!

Looking for a Corporal Duperroy, Corporal Jonathon Duperroy a towed jumper with the mind of a cretan but the courage of a drunk, who executed a feet ass head PLF in all our hearts... Hello, I am Sergeant Miller 3rd Brigade, 3rd ANGLICO. We train fairly hard, but I must say we are the dirtiest, stinkiest, bags of Chesty's buttcheese you have ever seen. 3rd Brigade is out in the field so dog-gone long that our gunny has to blast us down with a fire house to get all the fungus off. The grabbastic bags of extrenuous anal leavings over at 1st MLE occasionally refer to us as the freeballin' fairies because the unorthidox manor in which we modify our battle dress uniforms in the summer heat in JRTC Fort, Polk Lousiania. The motto among this derilict motley crew of pungent airborne wretches is "chonies iz for fonies." Nevertheless, I must reinterate that the Marines of 3rd Anglico and especially 3rd Brigade, are a bunch of smelly, stinky freaks that should not be tampered with other than in the time of war. And in such a time, they should be unleashed like wild, rabbid, gibbons upon the world in order to reap communist soles with unrelentingly barbarousness and without the slightest hint of remorse. Until that day, the president will store us behind a glass case marked: break only during a smelly, sweaty, stinky emergency.

Just found this website. Really brings back memories. I spent most of my hitch at Bragg on the medical committee and working the dispensary # 13 for SFTG. No hero stuff in my 214,just a trooper doing his job. I'll always fondly remember Ft Sam and it's 3,000 WACS. (1968)

I just came across the website and think it's great. I joined the 11SF Gp. Abn. USAR back in 1967 after serving 3 years with the 4th Armored Div. in Bamberg, Germany. Went to Abn. School in May - June 68, never was a full flash only a striker. I enjoyed the camaraderie of special men who coached me along. Joe Novak, John Flynn, Capt. May (Killed in training exercise-night jump), and CSM Gladfelter. All the Way

Especially enjoyed your website. Was looking to see if I could find something on 1LT Wilde. Believe he was with the B-23 in Ban Me Thuot around 1970. He left on a hardship discharge and knew/supported my wife and his daughter(unborn then) at that time. Daughter wants to let him know that she thinks of him and would like to know him. He also has 2 grand-daughters. All live here in Virginia. Any info would be helpful. Been trying to locate him now for 3 years. Thanks.

I am looking for a few beer-guzzling, whore-chasing studs who could "hump a ruck" all day long. Well, that's the way they were going through the "Q" course back in 1980. I will appreciate any Civilian Intelligence on a few great guys: Don (Swamp Fox) Muth, Mike Wright, Juan Benitez, Don Winningham, Paul Reinhardt, Bernie Sparrow, Mike Collet. (I don't know if we ever made much of a difference in the overall scheme of things, but it sure was a hell of a lot of fun trying.)

White Panther, thank you for the "honest" critique of my fellow Americans. I am absolutely certain the world community will be amazed by the ethnic tolerance and understanding which is now sweeping across the Balkans. Serbia, a nation that is most recently noted for such national heroes (or murderers) as Slobodan Milosevic, Radovan Karadzic, and Mladic Ratko, is hardly a model for the new world order. The Serbian Army demonstrated an uncanny ability for raping women and killing old folks. (Now that is a military organization you can be proud of!) Let us not forget the Serbian view of social engineering--ethnic cleansing. Most Americans will tell you America is not perfect. But, we sure look pretty damn good when compared to most of the nations that inhabit this world. Peace.
